Digital painting made with a graphic pad from my handmade gouache and oil paintings on canvas. The digital colours are taken from the stained glass windows of the Notre-Dame-du-Pré church, a Catholic religious building built in the city of Le Mans between the 11th and 12th centuries. My artistic approach here is to combine the two worlds: hand painting on canvas and pen painting with a graphic pad. I love visiting churches and cathedrals, especially for the chromatic power of their stained glass windows (cognitive colours) and the spiritual awakening they provoke. PRODUCTION TECHNIQUES
I made this digital art painting from the scanning of one of my gouache paintings on paper mounted on canvas. The technique consists in applying several layers of colours to reach the final result; this painting is then finalized in my workshop and stylized with a graphic pad then printed on dibond-alu (glossy finish) with a wall mounting system (aluminium frame if the dimensions of one side are higher than 60 cm).
